In context
Print and screen, one file
The print edition and the accessible PDF are exported from the same InDesign document.

Concept project. The company, people, figures and identifiers in this document are fictional and were created by REGENaB to show how this format is designed and built. It is not a real factsheet series, a financial promotion or an offer.

The system
What was built
The structure is the work an agency hands over: styles, grids, tables and charts that survive the next round of client changes.
- One system, four funds
- A single master and set of styles. Each fund changes only its band colour and bar object style, which is how a manager's monthly factsheet run stays fast.
- Performance that adds up
- Every figure comes from one monthly series per fund: calendar years, 1 month to 5 years, volatility and maximum drawdown all agree with the line chart.
- Native charts
- The growth-of-100 line chart is an InDesign path; calendar-year bars draw negative years below the zero line.
- Regulatory blocks
- Summary risk indicator from 1 to 7, share-class table with ISIN and ongoing charges, and the disclaimer on the master.
- Specimen identifiers
- ISINs such as IE00SPEC0101 are deliberately fake, so no one mistakes the concept for a real fund.
- Accessibility built in
- Export tags mapped from paragraph styles, alt text on every photo and chart, reading order from an article, bookmarks, document title and language, decorative elements marked as artifacts. A post-export pass adds what InDesign cannot write: table header scope, heading order and the PDF/UA identifier.
Accessibility, verified
Checked in PAC, not just exported as tagged
The PDF was tested with PAC 2026, the free checker by axes4 that applies the Matterhorn Protocol for PDF/UA and the WCAG machine checks.
| Standard | Failures | Result |
|---|---|---|
| PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) | 0 | Passed machine checks |
| WCAG 2.2 AA | 0 | Passed machine checks |
PAC checks what a machine can check. Alternative text quality and reading order were reviewed by hand. Both reports show zero warnings.
