Print and screen, one file
The print edition and the accessible PDF are exported from the same InDesign document.

Concept project. The company, people, figures and identifiers in this document are fictional and were created by REGENaB to show how this format is designed and built. It is not a real sustainability statement (ESRS), a financial promotion or an offer.

The system
What was built
The structure is the work an agency hands over: styles, grids, tables and charts that survive the next round of client changes.
- ESRS structure
- Sections follow the ESRS topics (E1, E2, E5, S1, S2, S3, G1) with an ESRS content index and EU Taxonomy KPIs, the way a first statement is organised.
- Data that agrees
- Scope totals, the 2030 target and the reduction levers reconcile; headcount by country, gender and contract type adds up.
- Native diagrams
- The value chain and the materiality matrix are InDesign objects, so labels stay editable and never sit on top of a data point.
- Photography
- Five images generated with AI for this concept, art-directed to the palette and cropped to each frame. A client project would use commissioned photography.
- Accessible palette
- Two colours added to the brand for small text and chart marks, so every text and graphic passes WCAG contrast.
- Accessibility built in
- Export tags mapped from paragraph styles, alt text on every photo and chart, reading order from an article, bookmarks, document title and language, decorative elements marked as artifacts. A post-export pass adds what InDesign cannot write: table header scope, heading order and the PDF/UA identifier.
Accessibility, verified
Checked in PAC, not just exported as tagged
The PDF was tested with PAC 2026, the free checker by axes4 that applies the Matterhorn Protocol for PDF/UA and the WCAG machine checks.
| Standard | Failures | Result |
|---|---|---|
| PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) | 0 | Passed machine checks |
| WCAG 2.2 AA | 0 | Passed machine checks |
PAC checks what a machine can check. Alternative text quality and reading order were reviewed by hand. Both reports show zero warnings.
